A little update report

Just wanted to give a little update on what I've been working on lately.
A little Holiday
My wife and I spent the week of thanksgiving up in Zion National Park in Utah doing some hiking and sightseeing with our in-laws. It was a rainy, wild, fear-inducing time (especially for someone afraid of heights!)
Check out this picture!

It was a grand old time, and a well deserved break from both my day job, and writing. I've been hard at work on the sequel to Aeolwyn's Conquest I:The Boy General and I was getting a bit frazzled. I realized pretty late on that I didn't have enough backlog on Royal Road to have any cool down period.
The good news is that it's getting close to being finished. I'm about to hit 90k words of an expected 106k or so, so just about at the finish line. This will give me enough backlog to work on another project (super secret right now) and then start up Aeolwyn's Conquest III: The Tambryne Bride.
It's all very exciting for me. While I've written a 2 book series (Olga the Heroic and Slave of Wellspring), I've never done more than that. So to have 3 books in a series (out of a planned 5) is new territory.
So What happens in the new book?
Since you're probably reading Aeolwyn's Conquest on Royal Road, fair warning...there might be some spoilers ahead....
I'll try to keep it brief and as spoiler free as possible. King Llarwyn has died, and Aeolwyn is forced to return home to Teorton for his funeral. While he's there, he's got to navigate the tense politics of a new king who wants him dead while mourning the death of his father.
Ulfnar's adventures with Lina also continue, but I won't go into any more detail on that yet, as the stuff that's going on with him hasn't been released on RR yet.
You also get to meet a bunch of new nobles, including King Drahius of Fennland, Archduke Rovaielle of Tambryne, and a ton of other supporting cast members.
Beyond that, there's fighting, army battles, and magic. All the stuff that makes fantasy books fun!
I've been pushing hard on this one, so I'll be glad when it's done. I can't wait to get started on the sequel. There's even more exciting stuff happening in book 3!
